Frequently Asked Questions

Is there parking available?

There is free street parking available at all times. If there is space on the driveway you are welcome to park there too.

What should I wear to my appointment?

Wear loose clothing that allows your physiotherapist to assess the area involved. Shorts and a strap top are often ideal. Your physiotherapist may ask you to remove items of clothing if required for examination.

How long will my appointment be?

An initial assessment normally lasts up to 45 minutes. A follow up appointment is up to 30 minutes unless your physiotherapist advises otherwise.

What payment methods are accepted?

Payment is by cash or bank transfer on the day. If paying by bank transfer, your physiotherapist will provide the bank details.

What happens if I need to reschedule or cancel my appointment?

Please contact Anna on 07921469174 as soon as possible. Anna will try to fill your slot. If this is not possible, full payment will be required regardless of the reason for cancelling. By booking you agree to these terms and conditions.

Where is the clinic?

23 Watsons Road, Longwell Green, Bristol, BS30 9DW.

What is involved in an initial assessment?

Your physiotherapist will take a detailed history including your presenting issue, the history of the problem, past medical history, current medications, family history and social history. A physical examination follows. You will receive advice on likely diagnosis and a treatment plan.

Can I book a massage without a consultation?

Yes. Without assessing the specific problem your physiotherapist cannot confirm whether massage will help your condition. General benefits of massage include improved circulation, reduced muscle stiffness and joint inflammation, better sleep, faster recovery between workouts, improved flexibility, decreased pain and soreness, strengthened immune response, improved relaxation, lower stress, better mood, reduced anxiety and a greater sense of wellbeing.

What are your opening times?

See opening times below.

What is your availability and how soon can I be seen and how do I book?

To check availability and book, call 07921469174 or message on Instagram @annasandersphysiotherapy or Facebook @Anna Sanders Physiotherapy. There is not an online booking system currently.

Is there a cancellation policy?

Yes. If you need to cancel or reschedule for any reason you will be required to pay 100 percent of the fee unless your slot is filled by another client. Anna will always try to fill cancelled slots but this cannot be guaranteed. Anna may refuse further sessions to anyone who does not adhere to this policy.

What should I do while waiting for my physiotherapy appointment?

If you are in pain, try to control it as best you can and speak to a pharmacist or GP if needed. Avoid movements and activities that make your pain worse and do more of what eases it. If you have chest pain, breathing difficulties, blood loss, severe pain, think you may have a fracture, have neurological symptoms such as numbness, tingling, loss of sensation in the genital region, changes to bladder or bowel, or a sudden onset of new symptoms, contact a healthcare provider urgently or call 999 in an emergency.

What treatment options are available?

After a thorough assessment your physiotherapist will advise on suitable options. These may include exercise therapy, manual therapy, massage, electrotherapy or a combination.

How do I pay for my appointment?

Cash or bank transfer at the end of your session. Bank details will be provided if paying by transfer.

Do you accept insurance referrals or clients?

Yes. Anna is HCPC registered, which is typically required by insurers. You will pay as normal and claim back from your insurer. An invoice can be provided at the end of your appointment.

Can I buy appointments in bulk?

No. Progress is reviewed at each session. Everyone is different and progresses at different rates, so you should never pay for more than you need.

Are gift vouchers available?

Yes. Gift vouchers make a thoughtful present. Call 07921469174 to purchase.

Are gift vouchers refundable?

No. Gift vouchers are non refundable

Do gift vouchers have an expiry date?

Yes. Gift vouchers are valid for one year from the date of purchase and are not accepted after the expiry date.

Do you provide any exercise classes?

Are there toilet facilities?

Yes. There is a toilet with handwashing facilities in the clinic.

Is the access wheelchair friendly and what is access like?

There is currently no wheelchair access to the clinic and there is one step up into the waiting room. Please let Anna know about any access needs and she will assist where possible.

Can I bring my children to my appointment?

It is preferable to attend alone to get the most from your session. If you must bring children, please note that delays or disruptions caused by childcare needs are outside the physiotherapist’s control and sessions cannot be extended

What happens if I am late or miss an appointment?

If you are more than ten minutes late, your physiotherapist will be unable to see you and full payment will still be charged. The same applies if you forget an appointment or can no longer attend. See the cancellation policy for full details.

Can you refer me for scans or onward referrals?

Yes. If further investigation is needed, Anna can refer via your GP on the NHS or privately. Some GPs or consultants require a medical report. Medical report writing is £65.00 per report.

 How much are appointments?

See prices below. Home visit rates vary by postcode. Call 07921469174 to discuss.

What qualifications and experience do you have and do you specialise in anything?

See the About section for full profile. Specialism is in musculoskeletal conditions including bones, tendons, muscles, joints, nerves, strength, balance, mobility and falls. Massage therapy is also offered for sports recovery and relaxation.

What can I expect from my first visit?

Anna will greet you in the waiting area or at your home, explain what will happen, and begin with questions to take a thorough history. Medications and past medical history will be discussed. Relevant areas are then assessed with movements and tests. You will be guided through every step and kept comfortable. You may need to remove some clothing to allow proper examination and your dignity will be maintained at all times.
